Susan Oliver was born in New York City in 1932. Her parents have her name Charlotte Gercke. She studied drama and later trained at New York City’s neighborhood playhouse. She appeared on Broadway and in lots of 1950s television shows. A couple of repeating drama series they had back then were Studio 57 and the United States Steel Hours.

Later, she moved to Los Angeles and appeared on many shows like The Millionaire, Waggon Train, and Father Knows Best. She appeared in a film called The Green Eyed Blonde in 1957 and The Gene Krupa Story in 1959. Later in the 1960s, she appeared on Bonanza, 77 Sunset Strips, The Fugitive, Route 66, and Dr. Kildair.

During this time, she also appeared in the films Your Cheatin Heart, and The Disorderly Orderly with Jerry Lewis. The Andy Griffith show was one of her best appearances. She really charmed Andy and Barney. They were falling all over each other to get close to her. She was really attractive and sort of the girl back in those days. One of her famous roles was as Vena, the green girl, in the episode of Star Trek called The Cage.

Famous for her appearance as a green Orion dancing girl, Susan is still remembered as the powerful personality of the industry.

However, acting wasn’t the only real thing that she wanted to do. She also wanted to work behind the camera and be a director. Eventually, she directed the episode of Mash, and Trapper John MD. But back in those days, it was hard for a woman to try and make a big career out of directing.

Susan Oliver Controversial Relationship:

Oliver was one of the first female directors in Hollywood and paved the way for others to enter the industry. She is known for her attention to detail and ability to work with actors. She had a knack for bringing out the best in her cast and crew.

However, her personal life was not as smooth as her career. Her uncontrollable addiction cost her everything. Her personal life was fulfilled by both successes and struggles. She has had several relationships throughout her life but has never tied the knot with any one of them. She struggled with alcoholism and later underwent treatment for her failing health in the 1970s.
